Different blood transfusion equipment is available on modern medicine marketAdded: 10/19/2005 |

Transfusion and autotransfusion is widely used in the modern medical practice, which means that there is a great demand for high quality blood transfusion equipment. But usually such equipment and blood administration sets are pretty expensive. But there is a way out in such situations. In many countries, like India and China, ISO certified manufacturers offer medical equipment at much lower prices.
Since the discovery of blood groups in the late 19th century, blood transfusion came into a usual medical practice. A great number of attempts of blood transfusion were made before that discovery, but without the knowledge or consent of the blood group patients of such transfusions, who did die very often (and in many cases doctors who performed blood transfusions were accused of murder). But today blood transfusion is a very important procedure for many medical operations.
Its predecessor is autotransfusion, when a patient is provided with his (her) own blood that was taken before. Such a technique excludes problems with blood of different groups and incompatibility, that is why, autotransfusion was in wide use long before the discovery of the blood groups. Today autotransfusion is still used in the medicine. Such a technique excludes the risks of transmitting different virus infections.
That is why, doctors prefer autotransfusion as a preoperational donation. A patient's own blood is taken long before the actual operation. And the use of a patient's own blood during an operation guarantees that there will be no complications in the future. In cases when retransfusion is used during operations, different aftereffects can develop later. For example, in one of 5000 retransfusions a patient can suffer from the so-called acute lung injury. Also, different sorts of direct retransfusion and autotransfusion systems are also used to purify blood from drainage systems.
This blood is purified by different means (there are many purifying methods, that are used, and a huge number of such methods is in development). Then the blood is ready for further retransfusion. Such technique (of direct auto retransfusion) is very important for people with blood or liver diseases. Different devices of direct autotransfusion allow saving a lot of lives.
But although there are many different blood transfusions equipment manufactures, many hospitals and clinics experience shortage of even simple blood administration sets. That is because of the pretty high price for blood transfusion equipment.
Of course, the latest achievements in production allow lowering these blood transfusion equipment prices but still pretty big sums of money are needed to buy it. That is the main reason why many hospitals today prefer buying India or China-produced blood transfusion equipment.
Today, they offer high quality products at much lower prices than European or American producers. And as long as most of the exporters from China and India are ISO 9000 certified, it is pretty safe to buy their blood transfusion equipment. With this standard in medical techniques a very high quality is guaranteed.
In medical magazines and online it is possible to find even special listings of companies that offer high quality blood transfusion equipment at lower prices. Such directories of blood administration sets' exporters allow hospitals to buy the equipment they need without ruining their budgets.
